The Alexandria’s Angels Foundation is a 501 (c) (3), established in 2001 to honor the spirit of our daughter, Alexandria Nicole Haddock, who was fighting leukemia at the time.  The foundation continues on in Alexandria’s memory to benefit children with cancer and their families by offering financial support for medical expenses, household expenses and adding hope and joy to the lives of children affected by childhood cancer.  Alexandria taught us many invaluable lessons in her battle and subsequent death in 2003, but most of all she taught us to never give up, always have hope, and to love people.

Treating childhood cancer is not a short-term event.  Treatments can last as long as three years.  Many in-patient treatments are required.  This is a long time for families to be affected both emotionally and financially.  Many families have no insurance, insufficient coverage,  or “maxed” health insurance.  When a child is battling cancer, many parents are forced to choose between employment and devoting their full attention to the well-being of their child.  With financial help from our organization, they are able to spend time with their seriously ill or dying child.

In the past nine years, many families have received assistance from us.  We have saved families from foreclosure on their homes and paidmedical bills.  We have provided health insurance coverage for a 5 year old girl who was in jeopardy of losing her insurance.  We have given gifts that offer hope and love to the child with cancer, their parents and silblings.  We support other organizations that have similar missions to ours, such as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and CaringBridge, which offers websites, free of charge to families who have a child who is ill to keep friends and family members updated on the child.

Cancer is the number one cause of death from disease in children under age 20.  12,400 children will be diagnosed this year, and sadly, many will not survive their disease.  The Alexandria’s Angels Foundation is committed to providing assistance to the newly bereaved families as well, by offering meals, grief support and memorials.

Alexandria was thrilled that there was a foundation named after her and was so thankful that we were making a difference in the lives of kids with cancer.  Your support will continue her dream to help others.  Please join us in our mission.
